Last week was the official launch of Handelsmann.no.
Handelsmann is a SaaS (Software as a service) E-commerce solution for the Norwegian market, co-founded by Arnstein Larsen and myself, that is powered by WordPress and WooCommerce. Unlike self-hosted WooCommerce, Handelsmann.no allows you to set up an online store without having to worry about hosting, FTP for themes / plugins, coding, etc. It’s also specific to the Norwegian market and configured out of the box to handle the Norwegian currency (NOK), Norwegian Payment gateways (PayEx, Klarna, etc.) and standard tax configurations. Support and documentation will also be in Norwegian.
I know some people might think I’m crazy for not launching something like this in English, but having worked with WooCommerce support in the past I’ve realized one of the biggest configuration issues was around localization. Not just translation, but specific setup for payment gateways, shipping, catalog taxes, etc.
Having lived in Norway for 3 years now I figured it would be a great place to start. I’ve helped kick-start the WordPress community here with the WordPress Meetup in Oslo and WordCamp Norway and feel a solution like Handelsmann could be a huge benefit for users looking to start their first online store with ease.
Here’s some screenshots of what an example store looks like below.
We also have a demo here which you can check out.
Hoping for a successful future and a growing platform! Let me know what you think 🙂
