WordCamp Phoenix ’11
WordCamp Phoenix has been planned for a while now. I never thought about going since I wasn’t sure if I would still be in Norway or not. Last Tuesday at the Philadelphia WordPress Meetup with the gang from WebDevStudios, Brad Williams mentioned I should still come out. So yesterday, two days before the event, I did some last minute planning and made it happen.
Although the event is 5 days long, I’ll only be there for the main conference on Saturday. This will be my 8th WordCamp, Mid Atlantic ’09, Chicago ’09, New York ’09, Boston ’10, Miami ’10, San Francisco ’10, and New York ’10. The schedule (see below) is legit and it will be great to see some good friends in the community again. (Clay and Grant Griffiths of Headway Themes, Matt Martz aka “Sivel”, Michael Torbert and Steve Mortiboy (AIOSEOP), Josh Strebel of Page.ly, Boone Gorges, Ryan Duff, Dre Aremeda and Tony Perez of CubicTwo, Cory Miller of iThemes, and everyone else.
See you in Phoenix!

When In Rome
Renate and I are back home safely in Kvinesdal, Norway after our long weekend vacation in Rome. We had the BEST time. Warm weather, delicious food, nice people and so much more. One of my favorite things about Rome was how easy it is to get around. All of the tourist attractions are easily within walking distance. I think we used the metro train one or two times because we were pressed for time.
So when we arrived at Kjevik Airport in Kristiansand our KLM flight to Amsterdam was cancelled.
In the meantime Renate and I remained “stress free” and hit the books.

Thankfully, KLM was nice enough to get us onto a SAS flight to Rome which connected through Copenhagen. I didn’t know coach seats could get any smaller, fly SAS and it is. Story of my life!
We got really lucky and made it to Rome only 1 hour after our previous scheduled time. Here’s a picture of the train we took from the airport in Rome to the city.
We took our first night in Rome nice and easy. Got unpacked at the hotel, went out for a nice walk and some real Italian pizza, and got to bed early so we could get a good start for our first day sight seeing.
Here’s a great local cafe we stopped at on our way to the Colosseum for some coffee and breakfast.

That’s all I have for now. We were supposed to come home Monday but our flight was also cancelled on the way back from Rome. KLM was nice enough to pay for another night at a hotel and dinner. Can’t beat free!
Thank you Renate for the most amazing time together and the best Christmas present I’ve ever received.
I love you!
